Educational Offer

Studies in PWSZ in Zamość last 3 years - licentiate course ( 6 terms ) or 3,5 years engineer course ( 7 terms ) and they are finished with obtaining the professional degree of licentiate or engineer.


Studies in PWSZ in Zamość are the most vital element of the educational system: 3+2+4, which has been obligatorily carried out in Poland since 2007/2008. Obtaining the degree of licentiate or engineer ( studies of the first degree )enables education on the master’s level ( 2-year studies of the second degree ) and then 4-year studies on the doctorate’s level (studies of the third degree).

Since the very beginning, curricular of all faculties, specialties and specializations were quantified in ECTS grading scale. They embrace in the range of one term minimum 30 points, and in the whole licentiate course 180 points, and in the engineer course 210 points. The system of ECTS grading scale enables evaluation and comparison of the results obtained by a student, it also enables to transfer these results between universities. In a clear and simple way it allows one to define rules of studying abroad and requirements necessary to pass them.

 

ENGLISH PHILOLOGY

 

The graduate of the English Philology gains practical knowledge of the English language on the level of licentiate. They also hold basic knowledge of literature, culture and history of the English-speaking countries, including linguistics as well as methodology of teaching English. Lectures, classes and seminars are run in English. Apart from obligatory subjects (course ones), a student is able to participate in optional classes such as licentiate seminars or faculties, which especially prepare for writing and defense of the licentiate thesis and as a result obtaining the professional degree of licentiate in the range of English Philology.

  • Specialization: translator
Graduates of English Philology – translator specialization obtain knowledge and skills in the range of theory of translation, translator’s basic workbench and intercultural translation. They also take a number of practical classes in the range of both oral and written translation of various texts ( among others: business English, English in tourism, law and technical texts and many others ). The classes are cased by general humanistic matters in the range of widely understood European studies and intercultural communication.
Graduates of this specialization are later on employed as translators in various companies, firms and institutions where the command of English is useful or indispensable.
 
  • Specialization: teacher
Graduates of English Philology – teacher’s specialization obtain humanistic and psycho pedagogic education, which prepares them to work in the primary school (including teaching English to youngsters) and junior high schools.
 
 
RUSSIAN PHILOLOGY
 
The graduate of the Russian Philology gains practical knowledge of the English language on the level of licentiate. They also hold basic knowledge of literature, linguistics as well as culture and the history of Russia. Lectures, classes and seminars are run in Russian. Apart from obligatory subjects (course ones), a student is able to participate in optional classes such as licentiate seminars or faculties, which especially prepare for writing and defense of the licentiate thesis and as a result obtaining the professional degree of licentiate in the range of Russian Philology.
 
  • Specialization: Russian in business and tourism
Students of this specialization obtain knowledge in the range of basics of economy, marketing and administration as well as social-structural and economical transformation of the Russian Federation, they also become familiar with peculiarities of the business language.
The curriculum of the studies of this specialization includes a great number of practical classes in the range of verbal and written communication in business as well as translation of various texts (including among others: Russian in business and tourism, law and economic texts etc.).
Graduates of this specialization will be prepared to undertake a job in various companies, firms and institutions where the command of Russian is useful or even indispensable.
 
  • Specialization: teacher
Graduates of Russian Philology – teacher’s specialization obtain humanistic and psycho pedagogic education ( among others: pedagogy, psychology, methodology of teaching Russian), which prepares them to work in the primary school (including teaching Russian to youngsters) and junior high schools.
 
 
FRENCH PHILOLOGY
 
Studies on the faculty of French Philology are currently run only in the intramural system, specialization-teacher.
The aim on this faculty is not only studying the French language on the advanced level, these are philological studies and the graduate ought to present a high level of general humanistic preparation, linguistic and psycho pedagogical education as well as hold knowledge in the range of literature culture and history of the French-speaking countries as well as methodology of teaching French.
 
Classes are run in the form of lectures and practical classes taught for most subjects in French from the very beginning.
The graduate of the French Philology is a specialist in the range of practical knowledge of French and according to the chosen scientific specialization, an expert on the literature of the French-speaking countries or a specialist of linguistics.
 
The graduates of this faculty are well prepared to work in Primary Schools and Junior High Schools. They will also find employment in language schools, publishing houses, trade companies and foreign firms.
 
 
POLISH PHILOLOGY
 
The graduate of this faculty holds a general humanistic education and basic knowledge in the range of Polish Philology – science about a language and literature. During studies students learn to understand literary phenomena and processes, language and cultural pasts and present days.
The syllabus of studies of Polish Philology includes, among others, learning a foreign language on B2 level of the European System of the Description of Language Education of the European Council. Graduates of this faculty have got skills of using a specialist language in the range of literary and linguistics. They can independently gather and transform information, expand their knowledge as well as solve professional problems.
Graduates of Polish Philology are prepared to work in education – after graduation from the teacher specialization, they can work in educational and cultural and local authorities’ centers as well as publishing houses and electronic media.
 
  • Specialization: journalism
Students who choose this specialization will become familiar with the language of media and journalistic genres, they will be introduced to the press radio and television journalism, they will know the rules of editorial work as well as elements of journalistic ethics and copyright.
 
  • Specialization: animation of culture
Students who choose this specialization will become familiar with such notions as history of Polish art, museum studies, folklore studies, historic and modern manifestations of pieces of work of culture (theatre, film).
 
  • Specialization: teacher
Syllabus of this faculty includes methodological and didactic classes as well as pedagogical practice.
 

POLITICAL SCIENCE
 
Students of this faculty during their studies gain interdisciplinary knowledge in the range of social studies enabling them to judge political processes taking place on the global, regional, state and local scales. During the studies they get to know the essence of organizing and functioning of modern societies, understanding the history of Europe, conditions of its integration, genesis and basics of functioning of the European Union, principles of functioning of international organizations, they will also learn to interpret the role of Poland in international relationships.
 
Syllabus includes knowledge in the range of functioning of the state, parties and political systems, international relationships, political marketing, various forms of strategies and tactics of political actions, mechanisms of political rivalry as well as creating the image of parties and politicians. Syllabus of this faculty also includes command of a foreign language on B2 level of the European System of the Description of Language Education of the European Council.  During their studies students develop their skills to use specialist language as well as information technology to the extent which is indispensable to perform  their job.
 
Graduates of Political Science are able to solve professional problems, gather, transform as well as transfer information, participate in the team work. Besides, they possess skills of making political decisions as well as analyzing phenomena and processes taking place in public life.
 
  •  Specialization: European Studies and regional politics
Students of this faculty obtain knowledge enabling them to become familiar with and understand mechanisms of functioning of international relationships with particular consideration of European context including such issues as the history of Europe, institutions and decisive processes of the EU, basics of Community law, finances and detailed politics of the EU.
 
Graduation from this faculty enables students to find employment in the institutions directly connected with the EU including organizations and institutions of the  EU and in Poland cooperating with its agendas, in companies acting on international markets and also in organs of political parties and chosen bodies, in state and self-government administration , departments of promotion.
 
  • Specialization: Self-government studies and local politics
Students of this specialization obtain knowledge enabling them to understand mechanisms of functioning territorial councils both in Poland and in the EU with special consideration the history of territorial councils, its structure and organization, basics of administrative law, public finances, commune economy and public orders.
 
Graduation from this faculty enables students to find employment in government and self-government administration, organs of political parties and chosen bodies, economic and social organizations, international institutions and organizations as well as in media and departments of promotion.
 
  • Specialization: public relations
Students of this specialization during their studies obtain knowledge enabling them to understand the essence of public communication, with special consideration of PR models, argumentative techniques, rules and instruments creating the image of the company, the essence of crisis communication.
 
Graduating from this faculty enables students to find employment in companies connected with PR, departments of advertising and promotion, in government and self-government administration, organs of political parties and chosen bodies, economic and social organizations, international institutions and organizations as well as in media.
 
  • Specialization: political marketing
Students of this faculty during their studies will obtain knowledge which will enable them to get to know and understand mechanism of functioning of political marketing with special consideration of techniques of political marketing, public relations, promotion and advertising, creating image in politics as well as instruments doing research of the political market.
Graduating from this faculty enables students to find employment in companies connected with political marketing departments of advertising and promotion, in government and self-government administration, organs of political parties and chosen bodies, economic and social organizations, international institutions and organizations as well as in media.
 
  • Specialization: social assistance
Students of this faculty during their studies will obtain knowledge about methodology of social research, reasons, symptoms, ways of prevention, solving and mitigation of social issues, law and financial instruments of social politics as well as about tasks and functioning of institutions of social sphere.
 
Studies on this faculty develop in students skills of gathering and analyzing information about social problems and issues as well as about the main groups which are endangered by social marginalization, they will also learn how to help and support people, families and groups that demand intervention, how to prepare social projects.
 
Graduates of this faculty are prepared to fulfill tasks in the range of social policy in state institutions, self-governing structures, nongovernmental organizations.
 
  •  Specialization: Security policy
Students of this specialization get to know conditions and essentials of security of the State on the following levels: global, regional, national as well as local ones, with special consideration of its legal and political aspects, the system of national safety and crisis management of the Republic of Poland as well as some chosen states, rules of functioning of security subjects, vitality of crisis communication.
Graduates of this specialization are prepared to work in institutions dealing with security of the state and crisis management, in structures of public administration, organizations dealing with safety of citizens, teams of crisis reactions, international institutions and organizations as well as in media.
 
 
MATHEMATICS
 
Syllabus of this faculty ensures the graduates a wide knowledge of mathematics and Information Technology as well as systematic education in the range of classical mathematical subjects. Graduates of this faculty, apart from mathematical education, which they will learn to deepen and skills of abstract thinking indispensable at work on positions on which such knowledge is needed, possess information and computer system skills enabling them to freely use means and methods of IT at their work. Graduates are also prepared to take up a job in the range of practical applications of Mathematics.
 
Syllabus of this faculty guarantees a possibility of learning at least one foreign language on B2 level of the European System of the Description of Language Education of the European Council, as an indispensable instrument enabling them a future development as well as using a specialist language as well as Information Technology in the range of Mathematics.
System of education on this faculty is based on the latest and the best syllabuses of teaching as well as on specially chosen didactic staff. It enables students to gain knowledge and practical skills required in professional work at school, financial institutions, in trade, in economic and social organizations both national and international as well as in companies cooperating with the countries of EU and the neighboring ones.
 
  • Specialization: Mathematics with IT
On this faculty syllabus of studies creates a possibility to obtain indispensable knowledge and skills in the range of both Mathematics and IT. Thus graduates will be able to find employment on positions requiring mathematical knowledge and its applications, but also on positions purely connected with IT such as: computer programmer, administrator of computer nets and the like. The studies will also prepare a student to work in a team.
 
  • Specialization: Financial and Insurance Mathematics
On this faculty one introduces subjects connected with economy (e.g. econometrics, financial Mathematics, mathematical models in insurance). One attaches importance to market preparations of the graduates. One assumes that both professional practice as well as pre-diploma one will be run in a direct contact with a typical functioning transactor. Students get familiar with arcans of market behaviors, they will also be able to put forward their own ideas and skills rationalizing everyday and future actions of the transactor where they take their practice.
 
 
MECHANICS AND STRUCTURE OF MACHINES

Studies at the faculty of mechanics and structure of machines last for 3,5 years ( 7 terms ) and are finished with the degree of engineer.
The curriculum provides the student with comprehensive knowledge in the range of technology, structure and exploitation of machines, embracing not only theoretical basics and specialist knowledge but also skills necessary for usage of modern computer techniques in designing and production. Studies at this faculty provides graduates with specialist education for modern industry.

The system of education at the faculty of Mechanics and structure of machines provides the student with basic technical knowledge and practical skills, required in a future job both in big factories and in small craft or family workshops.
The studies are open, i.e. there is a possibility to continue them so as to receive the Master’s degree at any university running education at this or related faculty.
 
  • Specialty: motor vehicles
At this specialization the syllabus gives graduates a possibility to work in companies dealing with producing, exploitation and fixing cars in designing, constructive and technological units.
Graduates of this faculty can find employment in factories and workshops of motor industry, in enterprises of car transportation, in garages renovating engines, stations of servicing vehicles as well as R&D background, and also in scientific research institutions.
 
  • Specialty: renewable energy sources
The above-mentioned studies provide students with issues connected with renewable energy sources, their resources, acquisition, designing and using them; also with applied economical and technical solutions in the area of solar, wind, geothermal and water energy as well as exploitation of biomass.

Graduates possess skills of estimating energetic needs and making optimal economic and technical solutions. They can carry out an energetic audit , analyze chosen solutions, plan an investment and find financial sources for its realization.
 
  • Specialty: machines of wood industry
The syllabus of the studies provides graduates with comprehensive knowledge in the range of technology, structure and exploitation of machines of wood industry. It embraces not only theoretical basics and specialist knowledge but also skills necessary for usage of modern computer techniques in designing and production. Studies at this faculty provide graduates with specialist education for modern wood and furniture industry as well as related fields.

Graduates of this specialization possess knowledge in the range of woodworking and wood and wood-like materials, designing machines for woodworking and chemical processing industry of wood raw materials. They are prepared to work in companies of wood industry ( in the branch of wood-like boards and sawmills), in trade firms and agencies.

The studies enable students to deepen their individual interests as well as to gain comprehensive knowledge in the range of processing industry of wood and wood-like materials.
 
  • Specialty: exploitation of planes and helicopters
Students of this specialization gain knowledge in the range of research and exploitation of airplanes and various kinds of their drives. They gain modern engineer knowledge in the range of shaping aviating structures both metal and compound ones, calculations of strength and aerodynamics, construction fatigue as well as diagnostics of deck systems.

This knowledge, gained during studies, enables graduates to work not only in the aviation industry but also in other branches of industry with advanced technologies as well as in transportation enterprises and technical bases of air lines or Air Force of the Republic of Poland.
 

TOURISM AND RECREATION

 

Graduates of Tourism and Recreation through interdisciplinary education, in the natural sciences, social and economic fields, will be familiar with the organizational and legal, geographical and natural issues. They will gain their organizational skills and ability to conduct comprehensive impact on people’s behaviour in their free time.

Graduate's place of employment may be: the associations of physical culture, tourism, recreation, sport; clubs and cultural centres; recreational centres; recreational and sports centres; tourist farms; hotels; guesthouses; spas; parks; service in the field of recreation and tourism; recreation and wellness centres; government and local government administration; social organizations; foundations and associations and education - after the graduation of teaching specialization / in accordance with the regulation of the minister responsible for education on standards of teacher training/.
